The Venom Of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer Colorectal cancer is a cancer of the colon and rectum, and it's the same cancer that tortured my maternal grandmother, as well as President Corazon Aquino and other Filipinos. It's the third lethal disease in the Philippines.

There are several contributing factors to colorectal cancer. Smoking and alcohol are just among the few known culprits of this cancer. Furthermore, eating high-protein diet, as well as consuming processed foods, can make yourself at risk of developing such cancer. In addition, living a sedentary lifestyle can also lead to colorectal cancer.

But the most horrifying thing about this cancer is its ability to be passed on from generation to generation. In other words, it is hereditary. As mentioned earlier, my grandmother, who died almost 10 years ago, was one of the sufferers of colorectal cancer.

However, there are still things we can do to fight against this colorectal cancer. Lifestyle change is one. And then followed by eating a well-balanced diet, especially foods high in fiber. Avoiding eating processed foods. Increase consumption of fruit and vegetables.

It is advisable for people who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer to undergo colonoscopy when they reach the age of 50. Occult blood test is also necessary. The earlier the diagnosis is the better chances of survival.

I have a friend that was diagnosed with this type cancer over a year ago and she is doing fine after her treatments. I believe they caught hers in time too. I didn't know any kind of cancer was hereditary except maybe breast cancer. Thanks for the post and regular checkups are a must!

yeah, colon cancer can be really bad, not only to the one that's affected by it but also to the family. It can literally put one's life on hold if it's discovered.
Since cancer runs both sides of my family, I'll probably have to get screened even earlier -_- ugh, the mere thought of getting violated like that... haha o well.. we all need to laugh sometime.
