Wart Remover-- Is Saliciylic Acid Safe?

Common warts are caused by human papillomavirus infection. They are regarded as contagious. Oftentimes, warts will only affect one part of the body without spreading to other areas.

Warts are annoying and embarrassing. Fortunately, they can be removed using OTC treatments.

Salicylic acid is one of the effective wart remover treatments on the market. It can be in a form of gel, pad, plaster or drop. This type of wart remover is designed to remove all kinds of warts-- be it tiny or big. This medication is a keratolytic agent that dissoves the protein or keratin that makes up the wart and the thick dead skin that covers it.

Salicylic acid as wart remover is safe to use. Although it can cause burning or redness, it does not lead into infection. This treatment is not ideal to be applied on sensitive areas like the face or groin.
