Millions of people, including Michael J. Fox and Cassius Clay (a.k.a, Muhammad Ali) are suffering from Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive neurologic disorder causing muscle tremor and rigidity. Until now, the exact cause is still unknown.

In this disease, the neurologic symptoms are caused by the deterioration and dopamine depletion in the brain. Furthermore, the disease is common in men.

During the physical examination, patients are "usually noted to have an immobile, mask-like face with infrequent blinking and reduced automatic movements such as swinging the arms while walking."

I just remembered Michael J. Fox in his 1985 movie, "Back to the Future." And he was diagnosed to have Parkinson's disease in 1991.

My dad suffered from Parkinson's for over 12 years before passing away due to the disease and also Colon Cancer. He was 85. I do not know which would be worse, Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. To have one's mind go or one's body.

@ann...Sorry to know that. Both, Parkinson and Alzheimer, are neurologic disorders and irreversible.Parkinson is no worse than Alzheimer.

wow. Seeing the both of them together is pretty incredible.
You also see the progression of the disease with both of them.

It's sad, but also great to see them still carrying on and trying to live life the best they can. Michael is still acting and shows no signs of slowing down in his career! ;)

My I lost my grandfather to Parkinson's and now my uncle is suffering with it. It is a terrible disease! I just did a post myself on Parkinson's. It has been linked to welding and manganese exposure.

It really is a terrible disease but hopefully as research continues, they will find more ways to treat, and one day cure, the disease.
