With so many weight loss treatments and methods available on the market today, it can be difficult to remember on how to be healthy while losing those extra pounds. Keep in mind that you may be shedding some pounds but you may also be eliminating essential nutrients from your body.

  • Opt for more vegetables. USDA recommends getting at least seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day for optimum nutrition. 
  • Choose low-fat dairy. You must eat at least 3 cups of fat-free milk each day or its equivalent, like cheese, yogurt and other foods rich in calcium. 
  • Eat whole grains. In order to become healthier, you should choose to eat at least 6 to 8 servings of whole grains per day. 
Other ways to achieve healthier body while losing weight is to avoid trans and saturated fats. You must also limit your sodium, cholesterol and sugar intake in a day. Instead, opt to eat more lean proteins, such as fish, beans, chicken without the skin and legumes.
